With over 80,000 tickets sold in 2010, Sydney Comedy Festival has fast become one of the highlights of Sydney’s cultural calendar. Running from 11 April till 8 May, the 2011 Festival promises it’s most exciting and diverse program yet, with everything from stand up, cabaret, musical comedy and an expanded kids program. The First Release went on sale on Tuesday 30th November with tickets on sale through www.ticketek.com.au.
The festival runs from Fri 6 March to Saturday 28 March, and curator Josh Thomas has put together a packed program. The Brisbane Comedy Festival will feature Adam Hills, Tim Minchin, Dave Hughes and Danny Bhoy, as well as Hannah Gadsby, David Eastgate and Hooray for Everything, plus many more performers. Response has been enthusiastic, with Dave Hughes and Adam Hills already adding extra shows to cope with ticket demand.
With a welcome return for some favourites and Australian debuts for others, the First Release line up of the Sydney Comedy Festival includes Dylan Moran, Danny Bhoy, The Umbilical Brothers, Adam Hills, Mark Watson, Tony Woods, Sugar Sammy, Tim Minchin, Pablo Francisco and Shane Warne The Musical.
