Here are this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival awards nominees!
The Barry Award
Some local favourites and a swag of internationals:
As Craig Platt points out, performers who have already won a Barry in previous years are not eligible for this award, so some very worthy shows this year have not been nominated – but that’s why there’s other awards!
The Golden Gibbo nominees were also announced
In memory of the late, great Lynda Gibson, who passed away in 2004, the Golden Gibbo is awarded to a local, independent show that bucks trends and pursues the artist’s idea more strongly than it pursues any commercial lure.
and they are:
Dr. Professor Neal Portenza’s Interactive Goat Hour v2.0
The actual awards will be presented later this week, in the final days of the festival. Other awards that will be announced on the night will be the Directors Choice, the Age Critics Choice, the Best Newcomer and the Comedians Choice (aka Piece of Wood Award).
