This year’s Cracker Night Gala took place in 4 venues across the city, inner west and eastern suburbs, and was a sellout hit for 3,200 fans packed into the Enmore (MC Craig Hill), Metro (MC Al Pitcher), Factory (MC Tahir) and the Parade (NIDA) (MC Tom Gleeson) theatres.

Hugely popular returnees to the gala night were Jeremy Hotz (CAN), DeAnne Smith (CAN) and Pajama Men (US). Sydney Comedy festival newcomers Carl-Einar Hackner (SWE), Russel Kane (UK), Shane Mauss (USA), Dave Thornton and Die Roten Punkte received warm responses while international comedy superstars Tommy Tiernan (IRE), Dom Irrera (US) and Jason Byrne (IRE) FINALLY made their Sydney Comedy Festival Debuts to much delight. Sydney’s own rising comic Mikey Mileos stepped in to fill a slot (between Hotz and Reggie D – not much pressure at all!) in the Metro lineup left unfilled by an international comedian stuck in Europe due to volcanic wrath, and did a damn fine job.

The Cracker After Party held at The Virgin Mobile Metro Theatre was a who’s who of the comedy scene with Fiona O’Loughlin, Eddie Ifft, Tony Woods, Gina Yashere, Alonzo Bodden, Des Bishop, Reginald D Hunter and Axis of Awesome. Irish musical comedy sensation Dead Cat Bounce followed up their CRACKER NIGHT success by taking to the after party stage to the delight of the revellers who partied until the small hours.
