How does it work that Julia Clark and The Nelson Twins are supports and Dat Tran and Mikey Mileos are MC and Headlining respectively?

Having seen all 4 acts, I think the line up is a bit scrambled.

Dat Tran didn’t make me laugh doing a 5 minute set, how on earth will he MC?

And Mikey Mileos, yeah the guys got a few jokes but he looks so disinterested on-stage he makes me want to leave!

The Nelsons on the other hand are great and Julia Clark is a future star in the making.

With comedy rooms managed by comedians rather than by promoters, getting to be the MC is one of the perks. It is, after all, a great way to gain stage time and experience. The room manager also picks who gets the headliner spot.

The lineup also has to be tailored to the perceived audience – a uni crowd tends to like different styles from a city crowd etc.

Interesting view of Mikey – it’s not how I would characterise his style myself, but comedy’s a very personal thing. He does have some good jokes. Agree with you on the Nelsons and Julia Clark – all very strong performers. Julia’s about to head back to the UK for a while to have a go on the circuit there, but I’m sure we’ll see her back in Oz again.
