Amber Ray
First up was the deliciously glamorous Amber Ray, direct from New York, doing a classic burlesque striptease. From sequins to feathers to impossibly huge eyelashes batting, she was utterly divine.
Then the MC, Kitty Flanagan, stepped forth. I’ve seen Flanagan MC a few shows now, and she’s one of the best: she builds an excellent rapport with any crowd and sets them up beautifully for the entertainment yet to come. And storm the stage they did – Jackie Loeb, Dana Maray, Marie Helou, Elissa Hawke, Julia Clark, Lila Tilman and Amanda Gray showcased an array of comic styles that ensured the audience never knew what to expect next, to their shocked delight. Did she really just say that? Oh yes, indeed she did.

The night ended with Miss Sapphira serving up a charmingly cheeky burlesque routine and then leading some audience volunteers into a (fully clothed) workshop for bump and grind that had them and the audience grinning and hooting like loons. The Wicked Women website has a photo gallery for the night which is well worth a look.
The smiles on the faces as people left told it all – Wicked Women is an absolute ball.
